The Scuba Club is now pleased to offer emergency care training courses to club members.

Even the most careful divers can find themselves involved with a diving accident, so having a understanding of CPR, first aid, and oxygen administration are critical skills that anyone spending time around the water should possess.

DAN Diving Emergency Management Provider The DEMP program prepares you to address multiple problems at once and with confidence. It combines the knowledge and skills from the following four courses into a single approach to managing diving emergencies: Basic Life Support: CPR and First Aid, Neurological Assessment, Emergency Oxygen for Scuba Diving Injuries and First Aid for Hazardous Marine Life Injuries. It is the class we recommend most as it combines skills from all classes into one efficient class.

DAN Basic Life Support: CPR and First Aid will teach you how to perform CPR, use an automated external defibrillator (AED), clear an obstructed airway, and introduce you to many common first aid skills.

DAN Emergency Oxygen for Scuba Diving Injuries will teach you the technique of emergency oxygen administration for suspected diving injuries and nonfatal drowning. You will learn the fundamentals of recognizing dive injuries along with response and management.

DAN First Aid for Hazardous Marine Life Injuries teaches divers how to identify and     avoid potentially harmful marine life. It also provides first aid skills to minimize these injuries and reduce discomfort.

DAN Neurological Assessment course focuses on how to obtain essential information about an individual involved in a dive emergency or suspected of having a stroke and what information to relay to EMS.

Please contact Patrick Kiel at pkiel@rsmas.miami.edu to sign up for a class, discuss the prices of various courses, or if you have any other questions.
